Invitation of Abdulhadi Achakzai Founder and Director of EPTDO-EVN to the Global Consultation on chemicals and waste Issues of Concern” on 11-12 July 2023 in Geneva, Switzerland

At the fifth session of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-5.2), Resolution 5/7 requested the Executive
Director to seek views from Member States and other stakeholders on priorities for further work, building
on existing measures and initiatives, and on potential further international action on the issues discussed
in the Assessment Report on Issues of Concern. The resolution also requested the preparation of a
summary analysis, taking into account the views received. In response, UNEP is issuing a call for written
inputs at the end of May 2023. UNEP is also convening a Global Consultation on 11-12 July 2023, in
Geneva, Switzerland.

World Environment Day – Solutions to the Plastic Pollution Event – UNEP – EPTDO, Afghanistan

On June 5, 2023, the Environmental Protection Trainings and Development Organization (EPTDO-EVN) conducted an online event called “Solutions to Plastic Pollution” in honor of World Environment Day. The event was conducted in coordination with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and aimed to promote practical solutions and bring together experts, policymakers, and civil society representatives to discuss the challenges and opportunities related to plastic waste management in Afghanistan and around the world.

EPTDO-EVN is an accredited organization with UNEP and is actively working towards environmental protection and livelihood improvement in Afghanistan. The organization has been implementing climate change programs and conducting public awareness campaigns and training sessions to educate students and community members about environmental issues.

During the UN-World Environment Day, the EPTDO-EVN conduced this online event on “Solutions to Plastic Pollution on June 5, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The event brought together a diverse group of participants, including experts, policymakers, and civil society representatives, to discuss the challenges and opportunities related to plastic waste management.

The event was opened with a welcome speeches by Abdulhadi Achakzai Founder and CEO of EPTDO. He highlighted the importance of addressing plastic pollution and the need for collaboration and practical solutions. The event was then followed by a series of presentations by 4 speakers and experts in the field, which covered a wide range of topics related to plastic pollution, environmental impact on health, sustainable development and introduction of ecocide law.
