Environmental Protection Trainings and Development Organization

Abdulhadi Achakzai is Founder and Director General for the Environmental Protection, Training and Development Organization (EPTDO) and Environmental Volunteer Network (EVN). He also serves as National Representative of Stop Ecocide International - UK for Afghanistan. Mr. Achakzai is an environmental activist and has been working in the environmental sector for years.

In November 2022, Abdulhadi Achakzai represented Afghanistan and his organization in the United Nations Climate Change 27th Conference of the Parties (COP27) in Egypt. During the conference he delivered 5-minute speeches in the high-level segments, he chaired Least Developed Countries (LDCs) session, and he presented a presentation about climate change crisis in Afghanistan in the Colombia Pavilion.

Mr. Abdulhadi Achakzai leads the EPTDO/ EVN program management, projects planning and initiatives, controlling budgets and finance units, creates short- and long-term policies and strategies for the improvement of the organization. He develops concepts and proposals for securing funds from the donors. He manages human resource management and decision-making processes of his organization. At the same time, he leads and provides guidance to all volunteer members and technical committees of the Environmental Volunteer Network (EVN). In addition, Mr. Achakzai leads all communications & interactions with national and international partners and donors.

Mr. Achakzai contributes extensively to the organizational growth and development. He has implemented varying sized and complex programs/projects in both independently and on behalf of donor organizations in all regions of Afghanistan. In addition, he has been instrumental in establishing partnerships with likeminded national and international organizations. Based on his tireless endeavors, he brought his organization to an amazing international stage. Currently, his organization (EPTDO) is the only accredited/admitted NGO from Afghanistan with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change [UNFCCC]. It also the only organization from Afghanistan which is accredited with the United Nations Environmental Program [UNEP]. Abdulhadi Achakzai was granted as observer status in all climate change conferences organized by the UNFCCC such as the Conference of the Parties (COPs) linked to the Paris agreement adopted in 2015 and Kyoto Protocol adopted in 1997. He is also granted as observer status in the U.N. Environmental Assembly [UNEA] of the UNEP.
